Krank, ungewollt, ein "unwertes Leben" - Alfred Hoffmann überlebte als Kind nur knapp die Selektion durch die Nazis. Seine Fluchtgeschichte liest sich wie das Skript zu einem Hollywoodfilm. In Bessarabien geboren, wurde seine Familie 1940 über Österreich nach Westpreu en zwangsumgesiedelt. Von dort flüchtete er gegen Kriegsende mit seiner Pflegefamilie mit dem Pferdewagen nach Deutschland, 1950 mit der Mutter über die Elbe in den Westen. Seine Lebensgeschichte: ein Zeitzeugnis, das bei Älteren eigene Erinnerungen weckt, für Jüngere eine Geschichtsstunde, die die Nachkriegszeit greifbar macht.
