It brings newly into focus reasons, forms, spaces, organizations, and consequences of mobility. The contributions shed light on gender-specific aspects of labor migration, migration policies, and the logics of societies of origin and receiving societies in an intra-European and transatlantic context, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
