Wussten wir nicht bereits alles über Mozart? Bernd Oberhoffs Mozart-Studie lädt zu neuen Entdeckungen ein. Der Autor räumt mit dem Vorurteil auf, dass Mozarts Kompositionen nichts mit seiner Person zu tun hätten. Diese Fehleinschätzung konnte nur dadurch entstehen, dass man den Zusammenhang zwischen Schöpfer und Schöpfung auf der Ebene des bewussten Kalküls suchte. Doch dort ist er nicht zu finden. Erst ein Abstieg in tiefere Schichten von Komponist und Werk lässt erkennen, wo Mozarts Musik von ihrem Schöpfer spricht. Der Autor macht Ernst mit Robert Schumanns Ausspruch: Wir würden schreckliche Dinge erfahren, würden wir bei allen Werken bis auf den Grund ihrer Entstehung sehen können. Oberhoff wagt in seiner Mozartmonografie einen Abstieg in jene inneren Räume von Person und Werk, die bislang noch niemand betreten hat.
