In diesem Buch wird die Praxis der volkstümlichen Erzählungen (anhand der Erfahrungen der Griô-Meisterin Dona Sirley aus der Stadt Pelotas in Rio Grande do Sul - Brasilien) als Bildungsprozess und Widerstand heute diskutiert. Ausgehend von den methodischen Annahmen der Fallstudie, der teilnehmenden Beobachtung und des narrativen Interviews beschäftigt sich die Studie mit der folgenden Frage: Kann die Praxis der volkstümlichen Erzählungen durch ein bestimmtes Subjekt als Bildungsprozess und Widerstand aufgefasst werden? Im Rahmen dieser Diskussion werden Autoren wie Walter Benjamin, Homi Bhabha und Pedrinho Guareschi herangezogen, die aus der Perspektive der Kritischen Pädagogik von Peter McLaren und Henry Giroux betrachtet werden. Schlie lich wird die Praxis des Griô-Erzählens als Bildungsprozess und als Prozess des Widerstands im Rahmen einer Pädagogik der Grenze vorgestellt.
