Take the scenic route.The focus of this book is to show how to expand awareness by making more of the unconscious conscious through techniques of mind training to use the brain in a better way, such as moving awareness into more of the right brain faculties.The idea of making more of the unconscious conscious is not just my own idea, after reading works by Freud, Jung, Scott Peck and others they have noted this is the main drive of the human consciousness, whether people intend it or not. Freud believed that he could bring unconscious feelings into awareness through the use of a technique called 'free association'. Carl Jung wrote: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it Fate." Scott Peck defined the goal of spiritual growth to be the attainment of godhood by the conscious self, where 'god' is the unconscious self. And he said to do that you must make the unconscious conscious.To me life is about coming alive. Finding and sustaining peak experiences. Feeling good; finding beauty. Even when I drive somewhere, for any reason; if there is a route that is more beautiful, but longer I will go that way. In life also, I take the scenic route. I do not live to be efficient, to compete, to be more productive. I will die one day and those things will be meaningless on my deathbed. I am just along for the ride. And I want to experience as much beauty and magnificence as I can.
