Este estudo examina por que razão o Investimento Direto Estrangeiro e a Ajuda Externa na África Subsariana facilitam o clientelismo que, por sua vez, resulta em Insegurança Humana em toda a região. No caso da Nigéria, existe um dilema inerente entre a ajuda e o investimento, por um lado, e o clientelismo, o acesso e a corrupção, por outro. A ajuda externa dos EUA e o investimento direto estrangeiro na Nigéria facilitam e reforçam o clientelismo e a corrupção, o que, por sua vez, resulta numa situação de insegurança humana.
