Jean-Jacques Sempé (1932–2022) was a renowned French illustrator and cartoonist, famous for his delicate, humorous, and deeply human style. He gained international fame as the illustrator of Little Nicholas, a series of children's books written by René Goscinny that tenderly and humorously depict the school and family life of a French child. Additionally, Sempé published numerous collections of satirical drawings and collaborated with prestigious magazines such as The New Yorker, where he illustrated several covers.
