Old Floridian Devil Worship is an epistolary horror novel assembled from letters written by Silas Vane, Elias Bell, Amos Pike, Gideon Rusk, and Hollis Crane during and around a doomed expedition into the remote Florida backcountry, where an investigation into an obscure history of devil worship gradually becomes something far more disturbing. Each correspondent records the same landscape and events according to his own profession, fears, guilt, secrets, and deteriorating state of mind, creating contradictions that slowly expose hidden betrayals, deaths, addictions, obsessions, and a mysterious relationship between Silas and the absent Elias. As the letters become increasingly fractured and the Florida landscape seems to acquire a memory of its own, the expedition's true purpose emerges: the men have not merely discovered an occult place—they have begun participating in its creation through names, correspondence, memory, and written testimony. What begins as an investigation into an old Floridian mystery ultimately becomes a terrifying collapse between the writer, the written word, the dead, and the reader who has been following the correspondence all along.
