Synopsis "Penalties for ship: Powering due to unvavorable underwater hull condition"

This book presents the results of an investigation into the performance of ship's hull condition. Assessment of the fouling condition was carried out using visual observations and experimental techniques. Measurements of the paint condition were used to find potential impact on fuel penalties. The investigation was carried out at three different dry-docks monitoring three different hull conditions of ships. Fuel consumption penalties due to the underwater condition of the hull significantly contribute to the operational cost of the ship. Ships crew usually take care of most of the ship's routine maintenance tasks but, it is difficult for the ships crew to tackle the submerged areas like hull of the ships. So, there is dire need for in-water survey to check the biofouling, painting and structural integrity of the ship. This book will be an invaluable tool for those that are interested in marine environment and interested to know the drydock process, biofouling and painting needs of the underwater hull of the ship. By the time you finish reading this book you are going to know exactly about the process of drydocking specific to the ships underwater hull. This book is not for everyone that is not interested in a case study or an experiment related to the ships.
