Synopsis "Penguin Minis: A Little Princess "

A beloved classic, A Little Princess, now in a revolutionary new mini format with a beautiful cover illustration by Anna Bond, the artist behind world-renowned stationery brand, Rifle Paper Co. This beloved classic is now available as a Penguin Mini. Complete and unabridged, the book's revolutionary landscape design and ultra-thin paper make it easy to hold in one hand without sacrificing readability. Perfectly sized to slip into a pocket or bag, Penguin Minis are ideal for reading on the go. Alone in a new country, wealthy Sara Crewe tries to settle in and make friends at boarding school. But when she learns that she'll never see her beloved father again, her life is turned upside down. Transformed from princess to pauper, she must swap dancing lessons and luxury for hard work and a room in the attic. Will she find that kindness and generosity are all the riches she truly needs?

Frances H. Burnett (1849, Manchester, England - 1924, Plandome, United States) lost her father when she was just five years old. The family had to endure economic hardships and in 1865 moved to the United States. Eight years later Frances got married, but she had already managed to publish in some American magazines like Godey’s Lady’s Book, Godey’s, Peterson’s Ladies’ Magazine, Scribner’s Monthly, and Harper’s. She was 28 years old when That Lass O’ Lowrie’s (1877), her first novel, appeared. However, it was Little Lord Fauntleroy (1886) that contributed the most to her popularity during her lifetime. It was aimed, along with Sara Crewe (1888) and The Secret Garden (1911), at the young reader. The latter is considered her most valuable contribution.
