François Châtelet siempre se ha definido como un racionalista, ¿pero de qué racionalismo se trata? No cesa de referirse a Platón, a Hegel, a Marx. Sin embargo, sobre todo, es un aristotélico. ¿En qué se distingue entonces de un tomista? Sin duda, en la manera de rechazar a Dios, de rechazar toda transcendencia. A todas las transcendencias, a todas las creencias en otro mundo, él las llama «fatuidades». Nunca hubo una filosofía más tranquilamente atea, salvo la de Nietzsche, evidentemente. Por ateísmo tranquilo entendemos una filosofía para la que Dios no es un problema, para la que la inexistencia o incluso la muerte de Dios no son problemas, sino, al contrario, condiciones que hay que considerar como adquiridas para hacer surgir los verdaderos problemas: nunca una filosofía se ha instalado más firmemente en un puro campo de inmanencia.

Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995) was an influential French philosopher whose work spans metaphysics, epistemology, and cultural critique.
