Synopsis "Poly-β-Hydroxybutyrat (PHB) (in German)"

Synthetische Kunststoffe, die im Wesentlichen aus Erdöl, einer nicht erneuerbaren Ressource, hergestellt werden, haben im Laufe der Jahre aufgrund des exorbitanten Verbrauchs der Bevölkerung eine gro e Menge an Kunststoffabfällen in der Umwelt verursacht und damit ein enormes Problem geschaffen, da dieses Material sehr widerstandsfähig gegen Zersetzung ist. In diesem Sinne stellt die vorliegende Arbeit Biopolymere vor, eine Alternative zu herkömmlichen Kunststoffen, da sie aus nachwachsenden Rohstoffen gewonnen werden. Poly(β-hydroxybutyrat) (PHB), der wichtigste Vertreter der PHAs, stammt aus Zuckerrohr und ist ein Polyester, der von verschiedenen Bakterien in Form von Kohlenstoff- und Energiespeichergranulaten produziert und gespeichert wird. Wenn es in biologisch aktiven Umgebungen abgelagert wird, liefert die biologische Zersetzung dieses Polymers Wasser und Kohlendioxid, ohne dass giftige Rückstände freigesetzt werden. PHB kann biotechnologisch durch das Bakterium Cupriavidus necator synthetisiert werden, das hohe Erträge und Produktivitäten bei der Gewinnung dieses Biopolymers aufweist, was für die Senkung der Produktionskosten unerlässlich ist.
