Richard Burnett Hays fue un teólogo y biblista estadounidense, reconocido por su trabajo riguroso en el Nuevo Testamento y la hermenéutica bíblica. Su enfoque se caracterizó por una lectura literaria y teológica de las Escrituras, atenta a las resonancias internas del texto bíblico más que a interpretaciones aisladas o puramente históricas. Su obra más influyente incluye Echoes of Scripture in the Gospels, donde propone leer los Evangelios como textos profundamente entrelazados con la tradición hebrea, y Echoes of Scripture in the Letters of Paul, ya considerada un clásico contemporáneo.
