Repentance Repentance is one of the first and most important steps in following Jesus, yet it is also one of the most misunderstood. Is repentance simply feeling sorry for what we have done? Is it admitting that we were wrong? Is it trying harder to become a better person? Or does the Bible describe something deeper? In Repentance, Book Four of The New Life Journey, Pastor Chris Smothers explores the biblical meaning of repentance and its place in our relationship with God. Scripture presents repentance not as a punishment, but as a response to the grace of God. It begins when we see ourselves honestly, recognize our need for Him, and become willing to surrender what has separated us from Him. Genuine repentance reaches beyond emotion and produces a change in the way we live. Through Scripture and practical teaching, this book examines the difference between sorrow and repentance, the importance of confession, the necessity of surrender, and the freedom that comes when we stop defending the old life and allow God to lead us into something new. Repentance is not about earning God's forgiveness or making ourselves worthy of His love. It is about responding to the God who is already reaching for us. Whether you are just beginning your journey with God or seeking a clearer understanding of this foundational biblical truth, Repentance will help you understand what God is asking of you and why His call to repent is ultimately a call to life. The New Life Journey is an eight-book discipleship series designed to lead readers step by step through the foundational truths of the Christian faith.
