Der dicke Leonardo Liebig ist ein Kommissar, dessen Ermittlungsstil zwischen Improvisation und Selbstsabotage schwankt. Sein schlampiger Kollege Kosinski, Pfeifenraucher und Katzenliebhaber, ist ihm bei seinen ungewöhnlichen Untersuchungsmethoden behilflich. Wenn dann Liebigs thailändische Stiefmutter mitmischt, Kosinski im Selbstversuch beinahe in der Ruhr ersäuft und Liebig gegen seinen Willen unter die Fassadensprayer gerät, scheint die Lösung des Falles weit entfernt. Kaum zu glauben, dass Liebig alle Fäden in der Hand behält und zum Schluss eine unerwartete Lösung präsentieren kann. Der Fall, der mehrere überraschende Wendungen für den Leser bereithält, führt die beiden Kettwiger Kommissare in die Welt der südamerikanischen Schönheitschirurgie und des Universitätslebens. Wenn Liebig und Kosinski eingreifen, bleibt allerdings nichts mehr, wie es ist.
