Nach Angaben der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) ist Sehschwäche ein klinisches Problem, das mehr Menschen betrifft als Blindheit. Weltweit gibt es etwa 285 Millionen sehbehinderte Menschen, von denen 246 Millionen eine Sehschwäche haben. Die Zahl der behinderten Menschen nimmt weltweit täglich zu, so dass Sehschwäche sowohl ein Problem als auch eine Herausforderung darstellt. Trotz des technologischen Fortschritts im Bereich der Augenheilkunde ist die visuelle Rehabilitation nach wie vor ein sehr wichtiges Verfahren für Patienten mit Sehschwäche, wobei jedoch stets die Bedürfnisse jedes Einzelnen zu berücksichtigen sind. Um das Verhalten von Erwachsenen mit Sehschwäche in einem Gesundheitsgebiet zu beschreiben, wurde eine deskriptive Querschnittsstudie durchgeführt.
