It goes without saying, and is universally justified that, good people have bad things happen to them. It isn't always the case, but it happens nonetheless. It can also be said, though it often goes without saying, that bad people have good things happen to them. It does not seem fitting to those bystanders who feel nothing but pity for those good people suffering at the hands of the fortunate malicious, but it goes on anyway. In this way, the world turns. Not everything is fair, and terrible things happen to the best of people. That is not this story. While it may seem grim, this is a story of justice enacted by the universe onto a bad man. A man, who by means of his own arrogance, is haunted by a benevolent fool whose ignorance is uncanny for one of thirty or forty years. It is unknown to me the reason behind the sinister feelings of hatred that he held toward the man he had no word of before he hated him. Perhaps there was no reason, or perhaps it is hidden. It, truly, is of little importance because I have not the means to bring that reason to light. But this, kind reader, is not a story of a sad defeat but instead a valiant victory over a wicked man. This man grew in himself a flame of malevolent desire that of which could only be satisfied by blood. Guided by Belial, our antagonist falls into a rabbit hole of internal turmoil as he battles with a beautiful, loving wife, a strapping son, and a fruitful and growing business. His efforts to secure a rewarding lifestyle for himself were worthless, in that he only finds a newer, more terrible meaning for his life. And so our story begins in a well-to-do house in a city in Missouri.
