A través del personaje de Rivarola, un escritor obsesionado con las múltiples muertes (y resurrecciones) simbólicas del Zorzal Criollo, el relato se convierte en un recorrido por el tango, la identidad argentina, y la relación entre mito y literatura. Rivarola escribe "tanguitos", pequeñas piezas poéticas, crónicas y delirios que mezclan ficción, ensayo y homenaje. En su mundo, Gardel no solo muere en Medellín: muere muchas veces, en distintas formas, como un símbolo que la cultura necesita sacrificar y revivir eternamente.
