Synopsis "Surfing the Covid Waves"

A group of blind men encounter an elephant for the first time and try to understand it by touch. Each man feels a different part: one the trunk, another the leg, another the ear, and conclude that the elephant is like a snake, a tree, and a fan, respectively. They argue, each believing their perception is correct. A wise man intervenes, explaining that they each have grasped only a part of the whole. The story teaches that individual perspectives can be limited and incomplete. Anjan Kr. Dasgupta joined Kalyani University in 1985 and retired as a UGC professor from the Department of Biochemistry at Calcutta University in 2017. He chaired the department for two years. He has four decades of experience in research and teaching in multidisciplinary domains spanning biophysics, biochemistry, and nanoscience. He has over 170 papers in international journals, has guided over 20 PhD scholars, and holds over a dozen international patents. Prantar Chakrabarti, a graduate of Medical College Kolkata, is a distinguished haematologist with an MD from IPGMER, a DNB in Internal Medicine, and a DM in Clinical Haematology from AIIMS New Delhi. Formerly the Professor and Head of Haematology at NRS Medical College Kolkata, he played a crucial role in establishing the Institute of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine at Medical College Kolkata. Currently, he collaborates with Zoho Corporation to develop affordable rural healthcare models.
