Synopsis "Teacher: Teaching and Being Taught: Essays in Christian Education"

Teacher. It is a noble calling. It is a calling in which those who answer it not only teach but also continue to learn. The author is a veteran teacher, editor of educational materials, writer of articles on Christian education, and textbook author. In this book he shares some of the lessons he's learned over the years. Those lessons are applicable to various grade levels and subjects. Dr. Charles Walker, for 25 years the editor of Journal for Christian Educators, considers Peterson's book "a must-read for every Christian school educator" and says that it "needs to be on every teacher's desk." Organized around John Milton Gregory's book The Seven Laws of Teaching, these essays were originally published in Journal for Christian Educators and other educational publications. They were well received then and, as "evergreens," are applicable today as well.

Charles "Chuck" Walker is an American writer, the president of the MacArthur Foundation in International Human Rights, and a professor of Latin American history at the University of California, Davis. He also serves as the director of his Hemispheric Institute of the Americas. His interests include Peru, natural disasters, social movements, subaltern politics, truth commissions, and sports and empires.

Among his best works are The Conquest of the Andes: How the Inca Empire Fell to the Spanish and Smoldering Ashes: Cuzco and the Politics of the Early Spanish Colony. These investigations offer a deep look into the history of the region, combining methods of historical analysis with sociocultural studies. His interdisciplinary approach has been key in understanding the history of the Andean peoples and their legacies.
