Sven Holm (1940–2019) was a Danish writer and playwright noted for his critical and visionary approach to 20th century literature. Born in Copenhagen, he debuted at 21 with the short story collection Den store fjende (1961), and throughout his career explored themes such as dystopia, ethics, and the human condition. Among his most recognized works are the novel Termush (1967), the intimate story Syg og munter (1972), and the prose poem Syv passioner (1971). In 1974, he received the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy, and in 1991, the Holberg Medal. In 2001, he was appointed a member of the Danish Academy and that same year won the Danish Critics Prize for his short story collection Kanten af himlen (2001). Additionally, he wrote numerous scripts adapted for film and television, notably the historical film Peter Von Scholten (1987). Holm passed away in 2019, leaving a literary legacy that continues to be studied and appreciated.
