Synopsis "The Contingency Factor: Mel Leonard"

When Sam Goodrich takes over the presidency of Sunnyvale Homes after bankrupting the original owners Nick DiGiovani and his son Anthony, he also inherits all of their past contracts and associates. One of them is the SPG Bank of New York, a private institution surreptitiously owned by a powerful Mafia Family. Sam later discovers who they are and that Sunnyvale is being used to launder their illegal funds. He realizes that this knowledge gives him power but it also puts him in a precarious position unless he can find a way to protect himself. Anthony DiGiovani, seething from the ignominy of his defeat and fully aware of the SPG's affiliation seeks to avenge himself by informing the authorities. He places a call to the District Attorneys Office for New York but as he is about to divulge his information, he realizes that he is putting his life at risk and ends the call. He feels certain that the Mafia is aware of his attempt to inform and terrified he goes into hiding.Although both men have completely different agendas, they realize that their best protection is their knowledge about the SPG, in fact this one thing above all others serves as their contingency factor.
