Synopsis "The Detention Frequency"

At 2:17, every phone in Tavi Mercer's science class displays the same warning. A moment later, a beaker flies sideways without anyone touching it.Tavi has enough to deal with already: a surprise quiz, a buzzing light, and a brain that will not let go of an unfinished thought. Her classmate Nia Calder can hear something stranger than the noise in the room: a person counting behind a wall that should be solid.Their school calls the incident an accident. Tavi and Nia know somebody is trapped, and the evidence keeps changing whenever they get close. As Friday's deadline approaches, Tavi discovers she can change a moving object's path. Nia's hearing can find clues no one else can reach. Neither power tells them whom to trust. They have five days to open a room the school insists does not exist. If they fail, the boy inside may disappear for good.
