I was still fighting battles nobody could see. For years, I carried things I didn't know how to talk about. Some of that pain started in childhood. Losing my best friend to suicide in December 2015 changed something inside me, and losing another friend the following year only added to what I was already carrying. I am an Army veteran, a father, and someone who knows what it feels like to struggle with PTSD, depression, and anxiety while trying to hold everything together for the people who depend on me. The First 100 Days is a collection of personal reflections about the battles that followed me home, the role medication has played in my life, and how my service dog, Ravik, became part of my journey. These pages are about the days I struggled to get out of bed, the moments I questioned myself, the frustration of learning to accept help, and the small victories that reminded me why I needed to keep going. I didn't write this book because I have everything figured out. I don't. I'm still learning, still struggling, and still trying to become a better version of myself, especially for my son. I wrote it for veterans fighting battles nobody sees, families trying to understand someone they love, and anyone who has ever felt completely alone inside their own mind. This isn't a story about having all the answers. It's a story about continuing to show up, even on the days when everything inside you wants to give up. Maybe somewhere in these pages, you'll recognize a piece of yourself.
