Synopsis "The Great Partition"

The Great Partition examines one of the most consequential claims in Oneness Pentecostal theology: that baptism performed "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" leaves the believer unsaved, no matter how sincere, unless the specific formula "in the name of Jesus Christ" is spoken over the water. Written by a former insider who spent decades in these churches, this volume treats the doctrine as a legal case to be tried rather than a belief to be mocked.Through a sustained courtroom framework, the book cross-examines the doctrine against the Greek term onoma, the baptismal texts of Matthew and Acts, the witness of the early church fathers, and the movement's own theological premises. It argues that the doctrine confuses the seal of baptism with the cause of salvation-mistaking jurisdictional authority for a phonetic trigger-and that the result is an "empty heaven" evacuated of faithful believers on a technicality.Rigorous yet accessible, The Great Partition is written for pastors, students, and anyone raised inside the tradition who has wondered whether grace is truly this conditional.
