Synopsis "The Intrepid Explorer: First Flight"

After the worldwide economic crisis in 2008, the majority of the world believed everything would return to the status quo in no time. But they were wrong. The European Union started destabilising and was eventually dissolved. The Middle-East was torn apart from the inside. The USA suffered a slow death. China suffered from civil war, as a result of imminent economic collapse and the civil rights movement. In the 2070s Russia stepped in to fill the power vacuum, but then the fossil fuels ran out. Without any acceptable alternatives and the financial markets collapsing, the population of the world gave into fear. Mass panic turned into riots and riots eventually turned into hundreds of small organised armed conflicts. Society collapsed. After the so called World War III, the remaining people believed they had finally learned their lessons. But have they? Noel, Sarah and David have nothing in common, but they have to learn to trust each other and work together if they are to survive their flight from the all-reaching world government that pursues them off-world and deep into space. What hope of refuge is there, when the only populated planet in the galaxy, your home, is trying to kill you?
