Synopsis "The Keepers"

A lousy childhood has left Police Officer Dan Ross with severe self-esteem issues. So when the bright spot of his life, his beloved wife of ten years, disappears, he is completely devastated. Yet God intends to bring good out of his loss. During his married life Dan has been a distant and uninvolved stepfather. Now, with his wife gone, Dan finds himself bonding with his two teenage stepchildren. Since they have always wanted a pet, he decides to let them adopt a couple of unwanted animals from the Humane Society-an old black cat and a three-legged black dog, both of which would have been euthanized if they couldn't find homes. Additionally, Dan chooses to take a Macaw parrot, who seems to have chosen him. From the moment he and the kids bring these animals home, amazing and inexplicable things start to happen. But Dan's life is again shattered when he loses his job and his stepchildren are kidnapped. Completely distraught, he intends to take his life. It is then that God steps in, showing Dan His love through the concern and prayers of a Christian church, and revealing a miraculous provision-three shelter animals who are not what they seem to be. With their help, he sets off on an incredible cross-country trip to rescue his children. Through it all, he will discover that no man is worthless to God.
