The Overmind - Robert I. Katz

Now, in the city of Dragonheart, he is building what he intends to be a permanent base that will allow him to extend his reach across the entire continent.

Damien has come to suspect that the ancient, mysterious ephemera have their own conflicts and agenda, and that their plans will have a dire impact on Damien's mission.

Forces are stirring. Ancient grievances are being revived. Old hatreds are rising to the surface, determined to wreak havoc on a fragile humanity.

Damien knows that his enemy has secrets, but what he doesn't know is that his own hazy origins contain even greater secrets, secrets which can determine the success or failure of his mission, and ultimately threaten the survival of both mankind and the ephemera.
