The Silence Between - Margot Barnes

One year after Noah Bennett’s death, Ash Hollow is still carrying the weight of everything he left behind.

Marcus Brooks came home searching for answers and uncovered the truth about Noah’s murder, the Carter Family Foundation, and the secrets that had haunted their small Tennessee town for years. He thought the worst was finally over.

Then, on the anniversary of Noah’s disappearance, a phone rings at exactly 9:18 p.m.

The call lasts forty-three seconds.

The exact length of the mysterious call Noah received on the final night of his life.

Suddenly, Marcus is drawn into the one part of Noah’s story that was never finished. The trail leads through old county records, Black Oak Mountain, a forgotten road, a missing survey, and the men who benefited from secrets buried decades earlier.

But Marcus is not searching for another killer.

He is searching for the truth Noah never had the chance to finish uncovering.

As the final pieces fall into place, Marcus must confront something harder than any mystery: the possibility that finding every answer will never bring Noah back-and that the life waiting for Marcus in Ash Hollow may matter more than the questions still calling him away.

The Silence Between is a Southern small-town mystery about grief, friendship, buried truths, and learning when to stop searching and finally stay.

The Silence Between is the sequel to The Hours Between and is best read after Book One.
