When a catastrophic hurricane strikes without warning, Eudoxia of Thalassia watches her life's work fail in the very moment it is needed most. Once revered for a storm-prediction system that made vulnerable coasts habitable, she is stripped of rank and driven into exile by guilt, grief, and the need to understand what she missed. Far to the west, K'inich, a young Maya scholar, begins to notice troubling shifts in rainfall, heat, water levels, and crop health, only to find his warnings dismissed by elders who trust prophecy more than evidence. Their separate journeys across a climate-strained Caribbean lead them through shipwreck, survival, sacred landscapes, and the hard lesson that nature cannot be mastered without consequence. When both are cast ashore by the same violent storm, they are forced into an uneasy alliance that becomes a meeting of worlds: Nereidonian science, Maya ecological knowledge, and older Indigenous wisdom carried in myth, ritual, and observation. As they exchange what each knows of storms, cycles, and survival, both come to see that the answer is not domination over nature but humility before it and adaptation within it.
