Synopsis "Twin Deceptions"

Doppelganger, waff, fetch, wraith and spirit-double are all terms for the apparition of a living person. One's spirit-double is identical in appearance, so the legend goes, even down to the details of the dress. To see one's doppelganger is a sign one's death is imminent.Kayla lived with a friend who witnessed a gang attack on an elderly couple. Her friend agreed to testify. The police promised to protect her, but she died in Kayla's arms. She blames the police for not keeping their promise. She longs to feel safe and secure again. Hoping a new town and a new business will bring her the peace she longs for, she moves to Stoneybrook, GA. to join an old college friend's medical illustration business. Right after her move to Stoneybrook, Kayla witnesses a drive-by shooting. During all the chaos a woman appears-a woman who, for all intents and purposes, could be Kayla's twin. Except she doesn't have a twin and the woman flees the scene before Kayla can ask her any questions.Jake Eisner is the Sheriff of Stoneybrook. He has struggled through life since his wife and unborn child's death in a drive-by shooting. The murderers have never been brought to justice and he blames himself for not being there to protect them. It's become his crusade to investigate all drive-by shootings in not only Stoneybrook but the surrounding towns as well. The drive-by in Stoneybrook during the festival offers a witness who saw the shooters. Frustration grows when the witness won't cooperate. His investigation into the latest drive-by leads him to the startling discovery of clues to his own wife's murder. But Kayla is refusing to cooperate, and Jake is convinced she knows more than she's willing to reveal. Maybe if he can convince her to trust him, he can put his past to rest and have a future he never thought he deserved.
