Untold Story. The Luweero War 1981-1986
Kato Jacob Kalibbala (Author) · Book Publishing Group LLC · Paperback
In Untold Story Kato Jacob Kalibbala takes the reader through events that shaped the National Resistance Army (NRA) rebellion in Luwero, Central Uganda from 1981 to 1986. The book focuses on the role of the Kalibbala family and the total commitment of the local people in the success of the struggle that led President Yoweri Museveni and the NRA to overthrow the government in power in January 1986. The family lost property and risked their lives, with no guarantee that they would ever reap any benefits. Zakayo Kalibbala's family was almost exterminated as members paid the ultimate price for supporting the war.
The author presents the experiences of individuals who actively participated in this war, and the suffering inflicted on local people by government forces. Stories from fighters close to the rebel leadership provide a rare account of how events evolved. Kato Kalibbala also presents the views of individual combatants, their expectations during and after the war, and how their contribution has been rewarded.
Kalibbala's book covers one of the main episodes in the history of Uganda which is key for present and future generations to appreciate the difficulties in state-building and the rare courage and resilience exhibited by the local people of Luwero.
