Carlos Lehder, uno de los principales socios de Pablo Escobar y fundador
del cartel de Medellín, es una figura reconocida mundialmente por su
extravagancia, su carácter jovial y aventurero, e incluso por ser el más culto
de los narcos de la época.
Su vida y las de sus colaboradores han inspirado obras del cine y la
televisión como la serie Narcos o las películas Blow -sobre George Jung- y
Barry Seal: el traficante.
Es el único de los tres grandes capos del cartel de Medellín que queda vivo
–en parte gracias a su temprana extradición a los Estados Unidos en 1987–,
y ahora, luego de pagar totalmente su condena en ese país durante 33
años, fue enviado a Alemania, su otra patria, desde donde escribió esta
especie de “memorias criminales” de cómo empezó muy joven a traficar con
marihuana y rápidamente fue creando un sistema que le permitió convertirse
en el aliado clave para sacar la droga de América Latina para llevarla a los
Estados Unidos desde su isla en las Bahamas.

Carlos Lehder Rivas (Armenia, Quindío, Colombia, 1949) is known for his role in drug trafficking as co-founder of the Medellín Cartel. After serving a 33-year sentence in the United States, he resides in Germany, where he has rebuilt his life. He is the author of the book "Life and Death of the Medellín Cartel" (2024), in which he recounts his experience and the rise of this criminal group.
