Carl Hendrick es un experto de renombre internacional en la ciencia del aprendizaje y el diseño instruccional. Es profesor en la Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas Academica de Ámsterdam y dirige proyectos de investigación que integran la ciencia cognitiva, la psicología educativa y la práctica docente. Es miembro del consejo editorial de la publicación «Ciencia del Aprendizaje» de la Oficina Internacional de Educación de la UNESCO y colabora con departamentos gubernamentales de educación y grandes redes escolares a nivel internacional para apoyar la enseñanza basada en la evidencia, el desarrollo curricular y la formación profesional docente.

Comenzó su carrera como profesor de inglés en una escuela del centro de Londres antes de doctorarse en educación en el King's College de Londres.
