Alex S. Vitale
Alex S. Vitale, born in Houston in 1965, is a professor of Sociology and coordinator of the Policing and Social Justice Project at Brooklyn College. With a career spanning over thirty years, he has worked as a consultant for police departments and human rights organizations internationally.
Among his notable works is "City of Disorder: How the Quality of Life Campaign Transformed New York Politics" (2009), where he analyzes urban policies in New York. Additionally, in 2017 he published "The End of Policing", translated into Spanish as "El final del control policial" (2021), where he questions the effectiveness of contemporary policing practices and proposes alternatives to address social issues. His writings focus on criminology and public policy, providing a critical perspective on the role of the police in today's society.
