Alfonso Baella Matto is a Peruvian journalist and researcher, known for his critical and sharp approach to recent events in the country. In June 2025, he presented his first work titled In the Name of the Absent (2025, sole author), an essay that aims to reconstruct the national tragedy from a documentary, political, and journalistic perspective. In his own words: “the truth makes us a little freer”. This book belongs to the genre of political essay and contemporary critical analysis. Across more than 200 pages, Baella Matto examines key decisions during the pandemic, points out negligence, and questions institutional silence.
