Latina author who writes books that inspire readers of all ages. These stories spring from her heart and often feature characters full of energy, pride, and bravery. Writing stories about pioneering librarian Pura Belpré, legendary actress and singer Rita Moreno, influential politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and even the charming and stylish Handsome Cat is part of how she celebrates and shares her Puerto Rican heritage.

When she's not writing stories, she's traveling to schools to talk to students about creative writing, editing passages for educational reading programs, mentoring writers for organizations like Las Musas and We Need Diverse Books, or her favorite, hanging out on the beach with her family in Rhode Island.
