Carlo M. Cipolla
Carlo M. Cipolla (Pavia, 1922 – 2000) was an Italian economic historian known for his humanistic and humorous approach to the study of economics and society. Throughout his career, he taught at various universities, including Pavia, Pisa, and Berkeley. In 1995, he received the Balzan Prize for his contributions to the field.

Among his most notable works are "Economic History of Pre-industrial Europe" (1994) and "Allegro ma non troppo" (1988), where he presents his well-known Theory of Human Stupidity. This essay explores, with a satirical focus, how stupidity influences social and economic dynamics. His work has been the subject of study and reflection in various fields, from economics to sociology.
