As a writer, Rangel is recognized for works such as "Del buen salvaje al buen revolucionario" (1976) and "El tercermundismo" (1982), where he critically addresses the sociopolitical reality of Latin America. These publications, prefaced by the French intellectual Jean-François Revel, were translated into several languages. Additionally, he was a columnist in various national and international publications, and his legacy includes the posthumous publication of "Marx y los socialismos reales y otros ensayos" (1988). His influence extended to television, where, along with his wife Sofía Ímber, he hosted the morning show "Buenos días" on Venevisión. Carlos Rangel tragically died by suicide in 1988, at the age of 58.
