Christopher M. Palmer
Dr. Christopher M. Palmer is a Harvard psychiatrist and researcher working at the interface between metabolism and mental health. He is the director of the Department of Graduate and Continuing Education at McLean Hospital and an adjunct professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. For over two decades, he has held leadership positions in psychiatric education at Harvard, McLean Hospital, and nationally. He dedicated more than fifteen years to neuroscience research in the areas of substance abuse and sleep disorders. In addition to his academic activities, he has continued practicing psychiatry, working with people with treatment-resistant mental disorders using various standard treatments. He has pioneered the use of the medical ketogenic diet in the treatment of psychiatric disorders, conducting research in this area, treating patients, publishing academic articles, and lecturing globally on this topic. More recently, he has developed the first comprehensive theory on the causes of mental illnesses, integrating biological, psychological, and social research into a unifying theory: the brain energy theory of mental illness.
