Grace Mallea
Grace Mallea is a Chilean architect and illustrator born in Valparaíso and based in Concepción. Her architectural training is complemented by studies in illustration at the University of Chile. She began her artistic career in Barcelona, where she participated in various design and illustration projects. Her creative approach combines analog and digital techniques, with a preference for monochromatic palettes. In addition to her work as an illustrator, Mallea has taught at the university level and has collaborated on projects involving scientific dissemination and urban cartography.
In 2022, she published her first book as an author and illustrator, Los zapatos de mamá, edited by Claraboya Ediciones. Aimed at readers from the age of 8, this work addresses themes of identity and acceptance through the story of Jásper, a calico kitten facing confusions about his identity. The book was awarded the Santiago Municipal Literature Prize 2023 in the children's category, noted for its innovative approach and distinctive visual style.
