Idea Vilariño
Idea Vilariño (Montevideo, 1920-2009) was a poet, literary critic, songwriter, translator, and educator. Before turning thirty, she was already widely known for her talent. During the last decade of the 20th century, critics and professors from all over the Spanish-speaking world, as well as translators from the United States, Austria, Brazil, and Italy, spread her poetry. She was one of the most prominent figures of the so-called Generation of '45. Very jealous of her privacy and reluctant to publicity, she died in Montevideo in 2009.
