Johannes Itten
Johannes Itten (1888-1967) was a Swiss artist, designer, theorist, and educator. At the age of 16, he began working as a primary school teacher, thus starting a teaching career that he combined throughout his life with artistic activity. After going through various schools and pedagogical experiences, in 1919, under the direction of architect Walter Gropius, he joined the driving group of the Bauhaus in Weimar, where he taught his famous lessons on color theory.
