Throughout his career, Teasdale worked as a researcher at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit of the Medical Research Council in Cambridge, and at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. His research focused on basic psychological processes and their application in the treatment of emotional disorders. He was a pioneer in cognitive therapy research in the UK and played a key role in applying these approaches to the development and evaluation of MBCT.
In recognition of his work, Teasdale has received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Psychological Association and has been elected a member of the British Academy and the Academy of Medical Sciences. Currently, retired from his research activities, he is dedicated to teaching meditation and mindfulness internationally, exploring the broader implications of these practices on human well-being.
