José Ángel Mañas
José Ángel Mañas was born in Madrid on October 22, 1971. He holds a degree in Contemporary History from the Autonomous University of Madrid. In 1994, he was a finalist for the Nadal Prize with his first work, Historias del Kronen. The novel had a great impact and paved the way for a new generation of writers. After its publication, the writer lived for several years between Madrid and Toulouse. He currently resides in Madrid. A finalist for the Nadal Prize in 1994, inspiring one of the highest-grossing films of the nineties and selected by the newspaper El Mundo as one of the hundred best Spanish novels of all time, Historias del Kronen, the debut work of José Ángel Mañas (Madrid, 1971), no longer needs an introduction and has been considered, on its own merits, as a true contemporary classic, an unavoidable reference point in fin de siècle literature in Spanish. Following Kronen, Mañas has written a dozen more novels, among which Ciudad rayada stands out especially for its quality and verbal fantasy. Other works published by the author: Mensaka, La pella, Soy un escritor frustrado, Sospecha, La literatura explicada a los asnos, Todos iremos al paraíso.
