Jota Mombaça
Jota Mombaça (Natal, Brazil, 1991) is an interdisciplinary writer and artist working between Lisbon and Amsterdam. They identify as a racialized non-binary "bicha," and their work is located at the intersection of poetry, critical theory, and performance. Their artistic practice addresses themes such as gender disobedience, anti-racism, and postcolonial critique, exploring tensions between ethics, aesthetics, and politics in current knowledge productions.

Among their most notable works is No nos van a matar ahora (2024), their first compilation of texts published by Caja Negra Editora. This book brings together essays, autobiographical texts, letters, and fictions that reflect their commitment to decolonization and the resistance of trans and racialized identities. Additionally, they have participated in major international events such as the Sydney Biennale and the São Paulo Biennale, establishing themselves as a relevant voice in global contemporary art.
