Robin Lane Fox
Robin Lane Fox (Eton, 1946) is a British historian, classicist, and writer, known for his deep knowledge of the ancient world, especially Greece, Rome, and Alexander the Great. Throughout his career, he has managed to bring classical history to a broad audience, combining academic rigor with an accessible and enjoyable narrative. He was a professor of Ancient History at New College, University of Oxford, where he also earned his PhD, and collaborated for more than thirty years with the Financial Times. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Duff Cooper Prize and the Wolfson History Prize, which highlight both his research and his ability to disseminate knowledge. Among his most notable works are Alexander the Great (1973), The Classical World: The Epic of Greece and Rome (2007), and Pagans and Christians (1987), in which he explores everything from military history to religious transition in antiquity. Thanks to his work, Lane Fox has left a significant mark on the way we understand and value the legacy of the classical world.
