Shari Lapena worked as a lawyer and English teacher before turning to writing. Her first thriller novel, The Couple Next Door, became an international success, was the best-selling novel in the UK in 2017, and the rights have been acquired to adapt it for television. Her subsequent books, A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, Someone We Know, The End of Her, Not a Happy Family, and The Girl Who Lived Here Too, have also topped the Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller lists and have reached seven million copies sold.
