Throughout her academic career, Wood has been through prestigious institutions such as Texas A&M University, where she was the Ella C. McFadden Professor of Liberal Arts; Duke University, holding the James B. Duke Professorship of Psychology and Neuroscience; and finally USC, where she also served as associate dean of social sciences. She has been president of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS), and has edited major journals in her field.
Among her recognitions are Fellowships in multiple scientific societies and awards such as the Distinction for Contribution in Attitudes and Social Influence (2021) and the Career Award for her contributions to social psychology (2022). Additionally, she disseminated her knowledge to the general public with the book Good Habits, Bad Habits (2019), acclaimed and reviewed in publications like The New Yorker.
