Yan Xiu
Yan Xiu is a Chinese writer and journalist born in Hunan province, known for her lyrical and profound approach to contemporary narrative. With a degree in Journalism and Communication, she has expanded her academic training in the United Kingdom and South Korea. With experience in traditional media and television, she has actively participated in organizing literary exhibitions and massive reading activities. For over a decade, she has been writing independently, boasting a broad online reader base. In 2020, she translated Emily Brontë's classic novel Wuthering Heights into Chinese.
Her most notable work is The Rebirth of Secrets (2014), a collection of stories mainly featuring women, addressing issues such as adolescence, motherhood, sexuality, and loneliness. This work was published in Spanish in 2023 by Ediciones Lastarria and De Mora, and presented at the Buenos Aires Book Fair, where she was recognized as one of the emerging voices of contemporary Chinese narrative. Additionally, her poetry collection In Shanghai Even Loneliness Is Good has been read by over a million people on the "Chinese Poetry" platform.
